about

Easter Street plays the type of rock and roll that makes hipsters afraid they are actually going to have a good time.

Their new self-produced and recorded album, ‘ Fire Together / Wire Together’ shows the band’s sound maturing into more straightforward, old-fashioned, rock and roll goodness. Describing themselves as the ‘antithesis to pretentiousness’, Easter Street evoke the honesty of 1970s rock without sounding like they’re trying to hold on to something that’s no longer here. Canadian singer / guitarist Derek Huffman emigrated to Scotland in 2005 to teach high school English, and, after meeting up with local drummer Daniel Dishington, started a pub band, playing all around the south of Scotland. After taking pity on young, directionless vagrant Murray Warnock and teaching him how to stand up straight and hold a bass guitar, the band starting writing, recording, and performing their own songs. After releasing their debut EP Paved With Good Intentions for free online, they debuted their first full-length album Cause and Effect in April 2012 to a sell-out crowd in their native Duns, home of F1’s Jim Clark, who, no doubt, would have been a huge fan. The album led to shows in Glasgow and beyond, various festivals across the Scottish Borders and Northumberland, several charity events, and being featured in a Newcastle United promotional video.

After several successful videos for singles My Walls and Parents’ Attic (for which the band did a video release show in a fan’s living room), the band have returned to what they do best – playing live – and have recorded a ‘live from the jam-room’ video for the first single off ‘Fire Together / Wire Together’, Let Me Walk You Home. The song stirs up that feeling of regretting things you haven’t done, while being glad that you never did them.

Above all else, this band is about having fun. They don’t require that you wear skinny jeans or sport an asymmetrical haircut – they just require that you enjoy rock and roll.
